Nantes. Rezé resident finds stolen bike by geolocating it
Worth €2,000, the electric bike was equipped with a GPS tracker. Its owner was able to recover it on the Route de Sainte-Luce in Nantes a few hours after the theft.
This electric bike enthusiast had taken some guarantees to be able to act in the event of theft. These precautions were put to the test on Thursday, July 28, when the precious motorized bicycle worth €2,000 disappeared, Reze (Loire-Atlantique).
Thanks to a GPS tracker
The owner starts following his route on his phone, using a GPS tracker, a geolocation tool to which he has subscribed. Then, he alerts the police when he notices a possible anchor point for his two-wheeler, on the Sainte-Luce road, northeast of Nantes.
The bike returned to its owner
Without further ado, the cyclist went to a Roma camp shortly before 9 p.m., even before a crew from the anti-crime squad (BAC) arrived on site. After a few exchanges with elders from the community, a 21-year-old man was reportedly ordered by his family to return the bike to the Rezéen. He was taken to the police station for theft.
