Nantes. The resident of Rezé finds his stolen bike by geolocating it
Valued at €2000, the electric bike was equipped with a GPS tracker. Its owner was able to recover it on Sainte-Luce road, in Nantes, just a few hours after the theft.
This electric bike enthusiast had taken some precautions to be able to act in case of theft. These measures were put to the test on Thursday, July 28, when the valuable motorized bicycle worth €2000 disappeared in Rezé (Loire-Atlantique).
Thanks to a GPS tracker
The owner started tracking its route on his phone using a GPS tracker, a geolocation tool he had subscribed to. He then alerted the police when he noticed a possible location of his two-wheeler on Sainte-Luce road, northeast of Nantes.
The bike returned to its owner
Without hesitation, the cyclist went to a Romani camp just before 9 p.m., even before an anti-crime brigade (bac) team arrived on site. After some discussions with elders of the community, a 21-year-old young man was reportedly ordered by his people to return the bike to the Rezé resident. He was taken to the police station for theft.
