Here is a brief summary of how this type of Low Consumption beacon works on the SIGFOX network:

This beacon activates as soon as it moves, and it attempts to revert its position every 10 minutes (once a day otherwise)
For the point to go back up, the 2 conditions below must be met:

1. That the tag can take the GPS position ... rather outside to see the satellites (in a car outside it works)
2. That there is a sigfox network (see www.sigfox.com/coverage ) ... and that the object is not too mobile (i.e. the vehicle is rather stationary)

If any of the conditions is NOK the beacon will try again 10 minutes later

The number of points returned therefore depends a lot on the conditions knowing that this beacon aims to remain low consumption to preserve its autonomy.

Finally, be aware that this type of network is not very efficient when on the move, so the points will mostly be sent back if the vehicle stops (if the beacon is in a vehicle, etc.).

But then why fifty years in the future when the spacecraft encounters a black hole does the computer call it an 'unknown entry event'? Why don't they know? If they don't know, that means we never told anyone. And if we never told anyone it means we never made it back. Hence we die down here. Just as a matter of deductive logic.
