Privacy Policy
Ticatag helps you keep peace of mind while simplifying your life. This policy identifies the information we collect and how we use it in the context of our mission.
Respecting your privacy is essential to us and, therefore, we ensure that we only collect the information we need to provide you with the best possible experience.
As you read our policy, please keep in mind that it applies to the website, mobile application and support center of TICATAG SAS (hereinafter, “Ticatag” or “We”), as well as the various related services that we provide (the “Services”).
1. INFORMATION COLLECTED BY TICATAG
In this Privacy Policy, the term “Personal Information” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. An identifiable person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, by name, identification number or, in some cases, by Geographic Data, an IP address or the unique identifier assigned to each Ticatag device. We collect the following information from you which may include Personal Information.
If you do not provide the necessary Personal Information when requested, you will not be able to fully use our Services.
A. Placing an order
i. Contact details
When you place an order on our website, or when you need to respond to a specific request, you must provide your email address, your first and last name, and a delivery address. In some cases, we may also need your telephone number.
ii. Payment Information
To complete an order on our website, you must indicate a payment method and provide information such as your credit card number or PayPal account details. This information allows us to process your order and is not stored on our servers.
B. Registration for the mobile application
You must use a valid email address and create a password to obtain an account and access the Services on the Ticatag App. You may use your first and last name if you wish.
We do not personally identify you to other users, nor do we make your account information available to third parties in any way that could identify you without your prior consent.
C. Connecting to social networks
When you create a Ticatag account, you have the option to connect and interact with a third-party social networking service (“Social Network”). If you decide to interact with a Social Network while using our Services, you authorize us to collect the Personal Information already posted to your account on that Social Network. You can manage this information in the privacy settings of each Social Network.
D. Information regarding your use of the Services
i. Ticatag ID, name and photo
When you activate a Ticatag using the Ticatag app, the Ticatag’s unique identifier (or Ticatag ID) is associated with your account. If you choose to give your Ticatag a name or add a photo of your Ticatag, that information will also be associated with your account.
ii. Geographic data
Ticatag is designed to find lost items. To do this, we need to collect geographic data about you. “Geographic Data” means the combined geographic data of your phone or device and your Ticatag devices.
When the App is open on your device, it regularly transmits your Geographic Data. This is what allows us to indicate, on the map, the last known location of your Ticatag (“Last Known Location”). This is the main way that Ticatag helps you find your lost items.
Ticatag normally only displays the most recent Geo Data for each of your Ticatag devices in your app, to indicate the Last Known Location. For Ticatag Premium users, the Geo Data for each Ticatag device is displayed in your app for 30 days, to provide the Location History feature. In both cases, Ticatag makes these records in order to provide you with the most recent Geo Data for your Ticatag devices, if you lose them.
The archiving arrangements for Geographic Data, archived separately from your account data, prevent linking to your account data through a pseudonymization process. Ticatag retains this archive data so that we can answer general questions unrelated to anyone, such as: "How many Ticatag devices were in Paris in 2019 compared to 2018?"
We may also collect and update your Ticatag Device Location Data anonymously from other Ticatag users running the Ticatag App or other third parties using an application or device that integrates Ticatag functionality (each, a “Ticatag Locator”) within Bluetooth range of your device. This allows us to provide the most accurate and up-to-date location of your Ticatags, even when they are out of Bluetooth range of your device. These updates are essential to the Ticatag Community because they allow Ticatag Locators to help each other find their Ticatag Devices. Similarly, your App can anonymously help other community members find their Ticatag Devices! The Location Data provided is anonymous and does not identify the owner of a Ticatag Device to others or vice versa.
If you use a computer, phone or other device to visit our website or help center, we use its IP address to determine its approximate geolocation. This allows us to improve your experience by offering you a more personalized service.
In addition to our use of your Geographic Data to provide you with the Services, we may use your Geographic Data to promote the Services or provide you with offers. However, we do not share your Geographic Data with other users unless you choose to share it through our Services.
iii. Mobile and Windows Application Usage Information
We track how and how often you use our Services, including on our mobile and Windows applications. For users of our mobile application, we also collect certain information transmitted by your mobile device when you use it in connection with our Services, such as the model, type and version of your device's operating system and the dates and times of your requests. We use this information to provide you with optimal services and support, and to collect statistics to better understand our user base.
E. Information Collected Through Ticatag Support Services
Our support service is accessible on our website, via live chat, or by sending direct emails and email requests. We collect the Personal Information that you choose to provide to our customer service through these means. This information includes, but is not limited to, your name, email address, telephone number, and postal address. We may use and process your Personal Information, including your Geographic Data, to manage your support requests and provide you with the best possible support. You may also choose to submit a diagnostic report to the Ticatag support team for troubleshooting purposes.
F. Human resources data
Ticatag collects Personal Information from its current, past and future employees, including emergency medical contact information and insurance policy beneficiaries (“Human Resources Data”). The Human Resources Data we collect may include title, name, address, telephone number, email address, date of birth, passport number, driver’s license number, social security number or other government-issued identification number, financial check data, bank account information used for payroll deposits. It also includes information included in a resume or application, language skills, emergency contact information and insurance policy beneficiaries.
In order to achieve our diversity goals, we may also collect sensitive Human Resources Data such as medical or disability history, including psychological health, sick leave or maternity leave, as well as information on national origin or immigration status and other optional demographic data such as race.
We acquire, retain, use and process Human Resources Data for a variety of business purposes, including:
workflow management, including project assignment, management and administration; human resources administration and related communications; payroll and benefits delivery; compensation, including bonuses and long-term incentive program management; employee stock ownership plan management; compensation analysis, including monitoring overtime and compliance with labor laws and corporate recognition programs; job classification activities; employee performance and development management; organizational development and succession planning; benefits and personnel management; absence management; help desk and IT support services; regulatory compliance; government or internal and/or external compliance investigations; internal or external audits; litigation assessment, prosecution and defense management; diversity and inclusion initiatives; restructuring and relocations; emergency services and contacts; employee safety; compliance with regulatory requirements; processing employee travel and business expenses; and finally, acquisitions, divestitures and integrations.
G. Information from other sources
To supplement the information you provide to us about you, we also receive information from other sources, including third-party services and organizations. For example, if you access our Services through a third-party application, app store, or social network, we may collect from that third-party application the information about you that you have made public in your privacy settings. The information we collect through app stores or social network accounts includes your name, social network user ID number, social network username, location, gender, birthdate, email, profile picture, and your contacts on the social network in question. This additional information allows us to verify the information you provide to Ticatag and to better inform you about our activities, products, and Services.
2. COOKIES AND OTHER WEB TECHNOLOGIES
A. Cookies
When your browser is set to accept them, cookies, which are small text files, are placed on your computer's hard drive or in the memory of your mobile device. Like many other online services, cookies and similar tools help us collect information about how you use our Services so that we can better understand them. Although most web browsers automatically accept cookies, you can change your settings or use third-party tools to have them ask you whether you want to accept or decline cookies from websites you choose to visit, before automatically doing so for you. You can even delete them through your browser. Most browsers also provide settings that allow you to refuse new cookies, to be notified when you receive a new cookie, or to delete or disable cookies altogether. However, some parts of our Services may not work if you disable cookies.
B. Use of cookies
Cookies enable us to simplify your use of the Services. For example, cookies allow us to remember you when you return to our website, identify you when you log in, authenticate your access, track the preferences or choices you set in the application, adapt the content to your profile or geographic area, display a personalized browsing history and/or provide you with specific technical assistance.
We may also use them to evaluate your use of our site, conduct research and diagnostics to improve the content, products and services we offer to you, and analyze general web traffic.
The cookies we use expire once their purpose has been fulfilled. Some cookies expire when you close your browser (session cookies) or after a certain period of time (persistent cookies). For cookies placed by third parties (explained below), it is they who set the expiry period, not us.
C. Web Beacons
Web beacons (also known as pixel tags or clear gifs) are small image files with a unique identifier that may be included in our Services for a variety of purposes, including to deliver or communicate with cookies, track and measure the performance of our Services, monitor the number of visitors to our Services, and monitor the effectiveness of our advertising. Unlike cookies, which are stored on a user's hard drive, web beacons are typically embedded invisibly on web pages (or in an email).
D. Do not follow up
Although our website and the Ticatag App do not currently recognize automated browser signals regarding tracking mechanisms, such as “Do Not Track” instructions, you can generally indicate your privacy preferences for the use of most cookies and similar technologies in your web browser as described above.
3. COLLECTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION BY THIRD PARTY SERVICES
Ticatag sometimes uses third-party service providers. These third-party service providers may place cookies on your computer's hard drive or in your device's memory or use web beacons to collect or receive information from the Services or elsewhere on the Internet and use that information to conduct analytics and target advertising. The information handling practices of external services are not subject to this Privacy Policy. We have no access to or control over the cookies or other web technologies they may use.
A. Web Analytics Services
We use third-party web analytics services that use cookies or other web technologies to collect usage information, associated with an IP address, to help us analyze how our users use our website and certain parts of the Ticatag application.
We collect such information to improve the overall experience of our Services for our users.
We use Google Analytics, a service provided by Google, Inc., to collect information about how users and visitors use our Site and Services. For more information about Google Analytics, please visit https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners. You can opt out of Google Analytics at https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-analytics-opt-out/fllaojicojecljbmefodhfapmkghcbnh?hl=en.
These external services may also collect information about your use of other websites over time. Since we do not associate any Personal Information you provide to us in the App with the information we store in third-party analytics software, analysis of this information cannot in any way identify you.
B. Social Media Plug-ins and Widgets
We may use plug-ins, widgets or other social media features (each a “Social Media Feature”) made available by and/or that access third-party Social Media. Such Social Media Features allow the Social Media to place cookies on your browser and collect certain information that may be associated with your name and personal account on the Social Media.
These Social Media Features are operated solely by the respective Social Media and their service providers, and we recommend that you read their privacy policies carefully before using them. We do not control or access the information collected, stored, or used by Social Media, and the information practices of Social Media are not subject to this Privacy Policy.
If you do not want to associate the information collected through plug-ins, widgets and/or other features with your personal Social Network account information, you must refrain from using the Social Network Features and log out of your account before visiting our Services.
C. Third-Party Payment Processing
When you purchase a Ticatag device, we process your payments through a third-party application, including the Apple App Store, Google Play App Store, Amazon App Store (collectively, with all similar applications, the “App Stores”) and Social Media such as Facebook. The third-party application may collect financial information about you to process a payment on Ticatag’s behalf, including your name, email address, address, and other billing information.
4. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONTENT OF THIRD PARTY WEBSITES
Our Services may contain links to websites and services that are managed and operated by third parties (each, a “Third Party Service”). Any information you submit on or to a Third Party Service, or collected by a Third Party Service, is provided directly to the owner or operator of the Third Party Service and is subject to the Third Party Service’s privacy policy. We are not responsible for the content, privacy, or security practices or policies of Third Party Services. To protect your information, we encourage you to carefully review the privacy policies of any Third Party Services you access.
5. WE MAY USE AND DISCLOSE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION TO PROVIDE, IMPROVE AND PROMOTE OUR SERVICES.

You may contact us at any time to object to the use of your Personal Information for promotional purposes, in accordance with the terms of the following Article 9.
iv. Research and development
Ticatag may use Personal Information to create non-identifiable information that we may use alone or in combination with other data from other sources to optimize the delivery of our current products and Services or to develop new ones. Ticatag may occasionally conduct surveys (online and offline) as part of research. To do this, we may use independent service providers. Completing these surveys is not mandatory and we will use the information collected to conduct market research or prepare reports to better serve our users by better understanding their needs and obtaining feedback on the quality of the products and services we provide. Survey responses will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of our Services, the various types of communications we use, our advertising campaigns and/or promotional activities. Ticatag may also allow individuals to download an application, widget, or other tool for use on mobile or computer devices. Some of these tools may store information on mobile or other devices. These tools may transmit Personal Information to Ticatag to enable users to access accounts and to enable Ticatag to use these tools. Some of these tools may allow users to send reports and other information by email directly from the tool in question. Ticatag may use personally identifiable information or non-personally identifiable information that Ticatag has collected to improve these tools, develop new ones, improve their quality, or for other purposes described in this Privacy Policy or in other documentation published by Ticatag.
viii. Use of Anonymous Aggregated Information.
Ticatag may use Personal Information and other information about you to create anonymous aggregated data, such as anonymized geographic data and demographic information, as well as information about the computer or device you use to access Ticatag Services or other types of analytics we create. E. Privacy Shield
For onward transfers to agents made under the Privacy Shield (or other applicable laws), the Privacy Shield requires that Ticatag remain liable if its agents process Personal Information in a manner inconsistent with the Privacy Shield Principles.
6. WE MAY USE AND DISCLOSE YOUR INFORMATION FOR OUR PROTECTION OR THE PROTECTION OF OTHERS.

Under the Privacy Shield or other applicable laws, you may also inquire about whether Ticatag processes Personal Information about you, request access to it, and request that it be corrected, amended, or deleted if it is inaccurate or has not been Processed in a manner consistent with the Privacy Shield Principles.
While Ticatag makes good faith efforts to provide users with access to their Personal Information, there may be circumstances in which Ticatag is unable to, and is not required to, do so, including (under applicable law) where the information contains a trade secret, would compromise other legitimate or privacy rights of others, where the difficulty or cost of providing access would be disproportionate to the risks to the user's privacy in the particular case, or where it is commercially proprietary. In the event that Ticatag decides to deny access to such information in a particular case, we will provide reasons for our decision and provide contact information for further information. To protect your privacy, Ticatag will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting you access to or allowing you to change your Personal Information.
